Dr. Justin Sands is a Senior Lecturer and Deputy Head of Department of Theology at St. Augustine College of South Africa. Originally from the United States, Dr. Sands received his PhD in Theology (2015) at KU Leuven, Belgium, and came to South Africa as a postdoctoral fellow at North-West University. Since arriving at South Africa, Dr. Sands has taught numerous courses in theology and philosophy and is currently pursuing a 2nd PhD in philosophy at the University of Fort Hare. He has published widely within the field and is a Y2 Rated researcher by the NRF.
Dr. Sands’ research interests are: Hermeneutic Phenomenology, Philosophy of Religion, Fundamental and Systematic Theology, Modern and Postmodern Philosophy, African and Decolonial Thought, Religion and Culture, Contextual and Liberation Theology.
