INSTRUCTOR: 

Prof Marilise SMURTHWAITE, Academic Dean at St Augustine and specialist in Applied Ethics

incl. course materials and refreshments

This course is aimed at those in leadership positions or in positions of responsibility whether in the private or public sector. It will explore the notion of ethical leadership, noting briefly the historical development of approaches to leadership, values, expectations and law in relation to ethical leadership and consider the vocation of the business leader in our society. 

There will be some examination of the South African socio-economic context and the ethical problems and issues associated with leadership in this context. Servant leadership will be discussed as an example of ethical leadership.

Offered over the course of a day (Thursday, 22 September, 08h00 – 17h00), the Course is presented by Prof Marilise SMURTHWAITE, Academic Dean at St Augustine and specialist in Applied Ethics.

At the end of each of the Courses, an attendance certificate will be awarded.
